Aheey Omnibus.jpgAhe’ey
by Jamie Le Fay
Genre: Epic Fantasy Romance
Release Date: March 8th 2017

Morgan’s feminist books didn’t prepare her to deal with the dashing Gabriel and the land of Ahe’ey.

Morgan is a dreamer, change maker and art lover. She is a feisty, slightly preachy, romantic feminist full of contradictions and insecurities. Morgan uncovers a world where women have the power, and where magic is no longer just a figment of her wild imagination. Sounds like a dream, but it may, in fact, turn into a nightmare.

The world of the Ahe’ey challenges and subverts her views about gender, genes, and nature versus nurture.

The strong and uninvited chemistry between her and the dashing Gabriel makes matters even more complicated. His stunning looks keep short-circuiting her rational mind.

“A bracing mix of emotionally and intellectually honest fantasy.” – Kirkus Reviews

“This book is a thoughtful look at empowerment for women. At the same time, it’s a rollicking trip into a fantasy world complete with dragons, love and strength, and ideas that really get you thinking. This book is highly recommended for all ages.” – HUGEOrange

“They’re flawed, real, and honest characters that can be easily related to. Ahe’ey is the kind of novel society needs to read, to create inspiration and to make people think. Ahe’ey is daring, complex, and honest. A must-read novel that tackles heavy and real topics with a mix of serious and humorous, charm and tragedy.” – Reader’s Favorite – 5 Star Review

“Ahe’ey contains a richly imagined world that raises complicated and timely questions about our own.

Jamie Le Fay’s Ahe’ey is an action-packed love story that puts forth a nuanced vision of gender stereotypes, body politics, and the dark side of seeking perfection.” – Foreword Clarion – 4 Star Review

It took less than two minutes for Gabriel to knock on her door. “Surely you’re not considering going ahead with the outdoor event?” He spoke faster, and his pitch was higher than usual. “It’s much too dangerous. We have no way to control the crowd or prevent an attack. I can’t allow—”

“You can’t what, sir?” she said, raising her voice. She was furious. Her eyes were spears ready to be fired without mercy. “Who do you think you are, to give me orders?”

There was nothing he could say or do. This confrontation wasn’t about the event. She needed to show him that she was the agent of her own destiny and that he had no power over her.

“Morgan, don’t risk your life for anger and pride.” He lowered his voice and attempted to reason with her.

“Great advice from the person who placed my life at risk in the first place. Why don’t you go and do your job instead? Aren’t you supposed to be leading my security team? Do your job! Neither you nor the MRD will stop me from doing mine. I won’t allow manipulation or bullying.” Morgan’s tone was cutting, almost feral.

“I can’t let you risk your life,” his mouth twisted; his voice held a cocktail of frustration and desperation.

Bombastic #BookBlitz: Hearing Voices by Axel Cruise

Hearing Voices
Axel Cruise
(An Isaac Blaze Thriller)
Publication date: April 2nd 2017
Genres: Adult, Thriller

“You’re a dead man,” he yelled.

“That’s great. Now answer the question.”

–Isaac Blaze

Isaac Blaze.

A quick wit, zero allegiances, and every major government agency after him. He’s also got two voices in his head. Neither of which is particularly helpful. Or care to be.

But at least he’s never been caught.

Hell, he’s barely even come close.

So when finally a SWAT team does actually manage to take him in – and with such ease at that – they probably should’ve been asking themselves: why?

Too bad they didn’t.

A lot of people got killed.

Goodreads / Amazon

Q&A with author Axel Cruise

RG: How did you get into writing? Is it that classic story of long-time reader who decides to pick up a pen?

AC: To be honest, I’m a TV man. Always have been. Right from when I was a kid. I’d come home from school and just sit and watch.

RG: Your parents must have loved that.

AC: Ha! Yeah, it wasn’t exactly a great hobby in their eyes—or my homework-hungry teachers for that matter. I frequently got the (wags finger) “Watching TV won’t get you anywhere” speech.

RG: I think we’ve all been on the receiving end of that one. So did you have to sneak in your TV time?

AC: Well, luckily I was a quick kid. So whenever I got the speech, I’d just calmly wait for the list of supporting reasons to come to an end—square eyes, kills brain cells, doctors and lawyers don’t watch TV—and then I’d say, “But what if I want to make TV shows?”

RG: Oooh, good answer. That must’ve driven them crazy!

AC: Yeah, you bet. But then again, I never got more than a derisory headshake. So I was pretty confident I was on to something.

RG: (Nodding whilst holding a copy of Hearing Voices) Seems you were.

AC: (Smirks) Well, all right, it was a little more than that. I mean, you have to understand, I wouldn’t just be sitting there. It wasn’t a passive activity for me. It was a whole experience. I’d really see myself in the show. As one of the characters.

RG: Any TV shows in particular?

AC: Not really. I watched pretty much everything. Anime, sit-coms, superheroes—I loved them all. Even stuff I was a little too young to understand. Like for example Seinfeld or Married with Children, when I was only five or six.

RG: OK, so it was through copious watching that you subconsciously picked up the fundamentals of story production?

AC: Yeah. Without knowing it, I was absorbing the dialogue, learning about story arcs, understanding how to pace your plot—all of it.

RG: I think Ben Stiller had a similar theory for himself. He wasn’t just watching TV, he was studying it. Were movies a big thing for you?

AC: Not really. But only because we (the family) never went.

RG: OK, let’s turn back to the written word. You’re an avid reader, so when did your love of books take flame?

AC: When I was about 16.

RG: 16? That’s late.

AC: Like I said, I’m a TV man. But then I really got into reading. Biographies and how-to books, mostly. My mum was always into bios and she encouraged me to read all the time. Eventually I gave it a try, and—surprise, surprise—I found I quite liked it.

RG: Which biographies?

AC: I read a lot of entrepreneurs—Alan Sugar, Richard Branson, Steve Jobs. I remember reading Arnold Schwarzenegger’s in university. That was a definitely a game changer for me. If you need a kick up the ass to get going, read that. It’s called Total Recall.

RG: What about fiction? When did that start?

AC: When I picked up my first Lee Child.

RG: Which one?

AC: Number one. Killing floor. I was in a bookstore, leafing through the selection, and I found this orange book (the UK version) and I read, I was arrested in Eno’s diner. At twelve o’clock. I was eating eggs and drinking coffee. A late breakfast, not lunch… I didn’t put the book down. (Note: Axel can quote the first chapter by heart. He’s read it that many times.)

RG: Who are your favorite authors?

AC: (Blows air out of cheeks) Where to start? I mean, obviously, you’ve got the big guns: Child, Chandler, King, Cole…(coughs) Cruise…Elmore Leonard, Michael Connelly, James Patterson, Karin Slaughter; and then you’ve got the lesser known, but equally incredible: Alan Glynn, Chuck Palahniuk, and whoever wrote that creepypasta about the Russian sleep experiment—damn thing gave me nightmares for weeks!

RG: Are there any self-published authors you particularly look up to?

AC: All of them. Seriously. Because we’re all cut from the same cloth. We’ve been rejected, beat down, told “no”. Doors slammed shut, dreams taken away. But. We didn’t stay down. We got up. Grabbed on to what we want and we’re not going to let go. I’m extremely proud to be part of the self-published community.

Author Bio:

Axel Cruise is the author of the highly acclaimed psychological thriller Hearing Voices—the first in the Isaac Blaze series.

Check out what Readers’ Favourite is saying here:

Axel is known for his ability to craft fast paced interweaving storylines, but primarily it’s his ‘cool’ and ’compelling characters’ and ‘dialogues that read so naturally’ that draws in audiences, with readers and reviewers likening Isaac Blaze to icons such as Deadpool and Jason Bourne.

British born, Axel grew up ‘pretty much in front of the TV’, and, in much the same way as Quentin Tarantino with films, Axel credits his incredible consumption of TV shows for his extensive knowledge of story craft. Some personal favourites include: Spiderman TAS (‘the best thing Marvel ever made’), Seinfeld (‘the best show ever made’), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Dragonball Z.

Of course, Axel is a voracious reader, too. His prefences for reading and writing are expressed well in a recent interview and the question of plot vs character:

“Look. Plot’s important, yeah. But really, I just want to see cool characters doing cool shit.”

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo

As soon as she sat my fangs popped out. I could smell her blood. She smelt tangy and sweet at the same time. I looked over at her and noticed her veins pumping in her neck. I became really thirsty and my mouth watered. She leaned into me, “Go ahead.” she said.

I looked at Tristan, he nodded giving me the okay. I turned back to Gilda and without hesitation I sank my fangs into her neck. She tasted just as sweet as she smelled. Her blood ran hot down my throat coating it. As soon as the blood hit my stomach I felt a surge of adrenaline run through me. Tristan came over and joined me, taking the other side of her neck.

Gilda moaned with delight. She liked being fed from. And I liked her liking it. My body reacted without me telling it to. I pulled away from her neck and kissed her. She kissed me back. She ran her hands over my breast causing my nipples to harden. She pulled away from me pushing my head back to her neck. She turned to Tristan and kissed him. He growled with pleasure as she slipped her hand down his pants. She turned back to me and kissed me again. I rubbed my hands along her small frame feeling her body.

She removed her hand from Tristan’s pants and grabbed both of our faces. She pushed us together causing us to kiss. Heat rushed through my body. His lips were soft, gentle. He didn’t kiss me with passion but with love. I realized what was happening and pulled away from him. “Oh my God Tristan. What did we just do?” I started freaking out. “Odin is going to kill me.”

“No, he’s not. It was just a kiss Lilith. He doesn’t even have to know.” Tristan said.

Blazing #BlogTour: The Velvet Chair by C.P Mandara

The Velvet Chair
C.P. Mandara
(Velvet Lies #1)
Publication date: February 6th 2017
Genres: Erotica, Romance

“Oh, darling. You’re going to be so easy to conquer.” His finger reached under my chin and pulled my face back to meet his. “I can’t wait to strip you out of that dress and watch you crawl around my home naked. I’m going to spank that delectable ass with every damn pervertible I can find. Hairbrushes, wooden spoons, spatulas, and I might even try a damn baking sheet. That ass of yours is always going to be prettily pink and perfectly swollen while you’re under my roof.”

My name is Mark Matthews. I own half of London, and the part I don’t own, I’m working on.

Life was all going swimmingly well until Michael Redcliff entered my life, demanding that I marry his daughter. Actually, swap demand for blackmail. He’s got goods on me that I want no one else to see, so for the time being I need to be his little lapdog.

I’ll marry his daughter. I’ll give him all the status, money and power he can handle… for as long as it takes me to get a divorce. You see, I can’t renege on our little arrangement – but she can. I give her a week. One week and she’ll be screaming the place down for her legal counsel.

I am never wrong.

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo / Smashwords

Half an hour later, I began peeling the plastic, dry-cleaning wrap off the ‘uniform’ that had been so thoughtfully provided. It didn’t take a genius to realise that this was no ordinary dress. While in essence it appeared to be a very cute French maid’s outfit, there was a lot less to it than the normal ‘adult shop’ version. Knowing I was going to regret this, I slipped it over my head and made my way to the floor-to-ceiling mirror located just outside the bathroom. Although I could already feel the parts that were obviously missing, I couldn’t resist a gasp of horror as the evidence was revealed in black and white. Oh. My. God.

For starters, nothing covered my breasts. They were left to hang bare. Actually, it was worse than that, because there was this delicate ruff of white lace beneath them that actually accentuated the fact that they were completely naked. Then there was a black, lightly boned panel that cinched in my waist, before filtering into a sheer gauze apron that hung from my hips to just past my crotch. It covered nothing. I could clearly see the outline of my sex through the garment. There was no way I could wear this.

Spinning around, I discovered more ruffled lace, rising around my lower back to frame my naked ass. As if that wasn’t enough, I also had a pair of five-inch black stilettos and a small lace cap to complete the lovely ensemble. It appeared I was about to become one of the worst sexual stereotypes in history, and with an extraordinary appalling lack of taste. Stomping around the room, I threw the doors of the wardrobe open wide, only to discover it was bare. Moving to my chest of drawers, I pulled out each one and threw it on the floor as I discovered that they too were empty. Feeling utterly helpless for a moment, I screamed at the top of my lungs. Although I knew no one would come running, it let out a little of the pent up aggression that was threatening to consume me. How dare he. How. Dare. He.

Tearing off the dress, deciding I’d rather walk around naked, I barged from the room and marched down the stairs. My bare feet thumped as hard as they could on each of the stone steps and my fist bumped along the bannister. Bastard. Utter bastard. How could he do this? Tears pricked at my eyes, and I fought them back. This was my first day under Mark’s roof. I would survive.

Storming into the kitchen, it was to find him sitting quietly at the dining table with a copy of The Financial Times in his hands. He was happily whistling ‘With or Without You’ by U2. I wanted to slap him. Paying me no attention, he slowly dragged a black coffee mug up to his lips and murmured appreciatively.

“I refuse to wear this,” I spat angrily.

My Review:

Wow, this was so much fun to read! We know as much as Rowen, which isn’t much. I love stories like this!! It’s so unpredictable which keeps me glued to the pages, hoping for just one more hint as to what’s going to happen. Even after reading the last word there are so many questions that I can’t wait to get the answers to. There seem to be so many agendas and who knows all the players involved, or who’s agenda is going to play out. Plus, dragons, how can you not want to read this?

Blurb From Goodreads:

Sylvia Noe and Josiah Wakeham are a mated pair.
Totally embarrassing, right?
But kind of dreamy, too.

Too bad his werewolf hunter mother won’t stop trying to poison him with wolfsbane tea, or casting weird spells on him in her attempts to turn him back into a human. As if Valentine’s Day isn’t tricky enough—there’re roses and chocolates and jewelry and the big school dance to think about.

It’s the most romantic night of the year, but Sylvia and Josiah might have bigger things to worry about, like how to keep his mother from kidnapping him and sending him off to boarding school in Connecticut. Like, who does that? Even a silver plated axe isn’t enough motivation to make Josiah want to go.

Then there’s the weird fight happening between their best friends. Love should be in the air, but it looks like it’s filled mostly with silver crossbow bolts and misunderstandings. How lame is that?

My Review:

Poor Sylvia and Josiah, they just can’t seem to have just a normal life, or as normal as it can be when you’re a werewolf. I still think this is a very cute series, and the characters are just fun. Even for a quick read there’s a lot of adventure.

Some folks might call this crazy, but Caitlin Morgan doesn’t mind – especially considering she has to write biographies in the third person. Oh, and half the host of characters in her head are searing hot bad boys with dirty mouths and skillful hands (among other things). If being crazy means hanging out with them everyday, C.M. has decided to have herself committed.

She hates tapioca pudding, loves to binge on cheesy horror movies, and is a slave to many cats. When she’s not vacuuming fur off of her couch, C.M. can be found with her nose buried in a book or her eyes glued to a computer screen. She’s the author of over thirty novels – romance, new adult, fantasy, and young adult included. Please, come and join her inside her crazy. There’s a heck of a lot to do there.

Oh, and Caitlin loves to chat (incessantly), so feel free to e-mail her, send her a Facebook message, or put up smoke signals. She’s already looking forward to it.

Blazing #BlogTour: Sonora & The Eye Of The Titans by T.S Hall

Sonora and the Eye of the Titans
T.S. Hall
Publication date: January 14th 2017
Genres: Urban Fantasy, Young Adult

The King is dead, and the capital city of Titanis has fallen. The world of Sonora is at war, and the only hope against the onslaught of the Titan army lies with the last royal descendant of Zeus, who is being covertly sheltered on Earth in the secluded mountain town of Sandy, Oregon.

Allora is a shy, intelligent sixteen-year-old, trying to get through the gauntlet of high school while coming to terms with her otherworldly origins. After getting into a fight at soccer tryouts, Allora’s emotions boil over, and her hands suddenly burst into flames. She has harnessed the power of hadrons at the highest level, but at extreme cost. The magical outburst projects an energy signature that is detected by a group of assassins tasked with killing Sonoran rebels.

To survive, Allora, Katie, Dax, and Tanner must find a powerful ancient artifact known as the Eye of the Titans. With the help of a guardian known as Sasquatch, they will have to fight off creatures, solve complex riddles, and navigate magical caverns, all while enduring advanced calculus, jealous girlfriends, and prom.

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble

Heed the warnings of the route you take,

For one false choice be the last you make

Be careful to step with feathered feet

For one wrong move will send you deep

Allora knew there had to be something powerful about those words, even if she didn’t understand what they meant. She glanced up at her teacher with a determined stare. “So what is it? What is this Eye of the Titans?”

Mr. Swan leaned against his desk and took a deep breath, as if he had a long, difficult story to tell. “Do you all know the story of the Titan Wars?” he asked.

Recalling the story of Greek gods and Titans, Allora asked, “So it’s not just mythology?”

“It is discounted as that now, yes, but the war was very, very real,” he began. “The Titans were and still are the rulers of Titanis, the capital of Sonora. Back when the gateways to Earth were discovered, the Titans treated humans as slaves and Earth as its own colony. That was at the time of the initial evolution of humans as intellectual creatures, when humanity began to think on their own.

“Several Sonoran colonies formed in different areas of Earth, and wars were fought over that land, because each place offered its own unique resources. Before long, the rulers of these colonies became entrenched with the thinking humans. They taught them their ways, educated them in technology, religion, math, science, and language. The Titans of Sonora became infuriated with this, fearing that the humans would become too powerful and attempt to overthrow them. Since the gateways were permanently open, a large Titan army invaded Earth, starting one of the largest, most devastating wars for either world.”

The four leaned forward, hanging on every word their teacher spoke.

Mr. Swan continued, “To quell the onslaught of the invading army, the Sonoran colonists formed a secret army, the guardians.”

“Like Sas?” Allora asked.

“Well, Sas is a guardian, yes, but these were different. If you paid attention during your mythology lessons in school or have watched some movies, you might know them better as Zeus, Hera, Hermes, Aries, Poseidon, and the rest of the so-called ‘Greek gods,’” he said, placing mocking quotation marks in the air around the term.

“Why were they called ‘gods’ if that is not what they were?” Tanner asked.

“That was the acronym for the organization.”

Allora’s eyes grew wide, and she leaned over the table. “Wait, so you’re telling me that all of Earth’s historical religious icons are based on an acronym?”

Mr. Swan smiled to one side of his mouth and nodded.

“They were originally known as the Guardians of Delphi or G.O.D., because most of the support for the uprising came from the capital city of Delphi on the western continent of Sonora. The Sonoran colonists of Earth joined the guardians to battle the Titans for the freedom of Earth and the freedom of humanity.”

by Blair Holden
Genre: YA Romance
Release Date: February 21st 2017

Tessa O’Connell is a girl as ordinary as they come-or so she thinks. Her aim for senior year is to keep her head down yet somehow manage to convince her childhood love Jay Stone to love her back. What she isn’t prepared for is for Jay’s brother, Cole to return to town and change the life she’s always been seemingly content to live. Tall, gorgeous as all hell and a bad boy with ocean blue eyes and the perfect edge of adorability, he was her greatest tormentor, her number one enemy. But the guy that’s come back is like no one Tessa’s ever come across. He challenges her, he tests her limits, he forces her to bring out the girl she’s long ago buried under a veil of mediocrity and most of all he compels her to consider that perhaps the boy that infuriates her to the point of no return might just her guardian angel.

Teaser – THE BAD BOY’S GIRL introduction:

– Introduction-

Mom and Dad are at it again and I can hear their shouts through our thin, almost paper-like walls. They are still under the impression that if they shout downstairs, I won’t be able to hear them. Yet sadly for them, and for me, I can hear each and every word crystal clear.

But that’s what they do. They fight up to the point where they want to tear each other’s hair out and then go to their room. Lately, however, my dad has taken to sleeping in the guest bedroom, which he sneaks out of every morning before I go to school.

He thinks I don’t know, but I do.

I’m aware that things are bad between my parents but they’ll never leave each other. They’re stubborn like that. I get that from them, the stubbornness, but I really do hope I’m never put in a situation like theirs. Though I don’t have to worry about finding someone I love and then ending up hating them, because the guy I love will never love me. He’s too busy being in love with Nikki the Ho. Oh wait, let me rewind and tell you exactly why Nikki’s a ho.

Nicole Andrea Bishop, also known as the reason behind every bad thing in my life, is my ex-best friend and vice-captain of the varsity dance team. I’ve known her since kindergarten when everything was rainbows and butterflies, and sharing a cup of Jell-O meant that we were BFFs.

Truly, that’s what Nikki and I were for about ten years. Then high school happened and turned her into the spawn of Satan.

Gone was the girl with missing front teeth who used to braid my hair because I was physically incapable of doing so. Gone was the girl with severe acne who stayed up all night with me, helping me prepare for the nightmare that was my French final in junior high. Gone was the girl who’d become a sister to me, who had dinner with my family every Saturday night before we started our weekly Gilmore Girls marathon.

By the time freshman year ended, she had been possessed by the spirit of Regina George and I was that pesky fly that kept hovering near her. I fought to keep our friendship alive, I truly did, but there was only so much my pride could suffer.

This is the part where I tell you that I used to be fat. Oh, and when I say fat, I don’t mean the kind of fat where you could wear skinny jeans and crop tops yet still find it in yourself to criticize those few extra pounds.

I weighed a whopping two hundred and thirty pounds. I was that girl who wore sweatpants and XXL hoodies with my Converse all day, every day, and didn’t think twice about it. But before you begin to pity me, let me assure you that I was never conscious about my weight. In fact, I was pretty okay with it. I didn’t diet, nor did I exercise (much to my mother’s chagrin), and I didn’t sacrifice small animals so that the gods would miraculously make me shed all the extra weight. I ate what I wanted, I stayed inside watching Gossip Girl on my laptop, and in school I was ignored, never bullied, but ignored.

Then Nicole joined the dance team and suddenly everyone hated me. I can still hear them, you know, the catcalls and hushed, well, not completely hushed, whispers as Nicole and I would pass the other students.

What’s Nicole Andrea Bishop doing with a girl like her?”

How is Fatty Tessie blackmailing Nicole into being her friend?”

Why doesn’t Nicole just get rid of the extra weight?” Yeah, that one was hilarious.

Suffice it to say Nicole realized that I was damaging her reputation. So after months of avoiding my calls and not “having time” to hang out with me, she made it clear that I was now a bother to her and that we couldn’t be friends anymore.

I swallowed my pride and agreed. Just like that, ten years of friendship went down the drain, all because my best friend was too big of a coward to stand up to the people who questioned our friendship. Now, if she’d stayed a coward, I would’ve been okay with it, but she decided that one humungous character flaw wasn’t enough. Oh no, apparently the prerequisite for popularity is becoming some sort of twisted villain you find in the classic western movies. Which Nicole did.

While I returned for sophomore year eighty pounds lighter, she returned with a boyfriend. Not just any boyfriend at that. Nicole returned as the girlfriend of the boy I’d been crushing on since I was eight.

Jason “Jay” Stone was the first boy who ever got me flowers. Well, if you consider a single, roughly plucked dandelion a flower. He did this when we were in the third grade and I came to school wearing my favorite bow. He told me I looked pretty and that was it—I was in love. As time went on we became good friends. Well, he was a good friend to me. I simply became tongue-tied in his presence. He was your typical All-American Boy with his blond hair, blue eyes, and enviable baseball skills. However, as I added pounds to my body, I became shy about my association with him. I was overweight and carried prepubescent awkwardness. I told myself that I wasn’t the kind of girl who deserved to spend time with Jay Stone, and I distanced myself from him.

Nicole knew full well how I felt about him. She even encouraged me to ask him out because she claimed he had a crush on me despite my weight problems. Let’s just say I was very, very opposed to the idea. However, during the summer before my sophomore year, I realized that maybe I’d finally stumbled upon a breakthrough. As I slaved over the treadmill and consumed my body weight in water, I felt that maybe this would be the year. The year when I’d finally have a shot, that I could finally be someone who could possibly flirt with Jay Stone.

I was in for a rude awakening.

The first time I saw Jay after that summer was in the school hallway just before the bell for first period rang. I had worn my best pair of skinny jeans, which coincidentally made my butt look good, a fitted top showing just a hint of cleavage, and some pretty badass biker boots. I’d painstakingly styled my blond hair into beachy waves with my makeup expertly applied. However, my eye makeup ran down my face not five minutes later when I saw him.

He had his tongue down my best friend’s—excuse me, my ex-best friend’s—throat. If I’d eaten anything at all, the contents of my stomach would surely have made their way back up. I remember clearly feeling a viselike grip around my heart, like someone was squeezing it tightly, cracking it up into minuscule pieces. Tears stung my eyes and my throat closed up. It was the worst I’d ever felt.

I had lost Jay Stone, the love of my life, to my ex-best friend, and boy, did she rub it in my face. It was like losing all that weight made no difference to them. I was destined to remain Fatty Tessie, friendless and invisible to the only guy I’d ever wanted.

Fast forward two years and here I am, a senior going into my second week of high school. Not quite shockingly, a senior sitting at home on a Saturday night and stalking the love of her life on Facebook. Yes, I’ve grown into referring to myself in third person because that’s what mind-numbing boredom does to you.

I’m scrolling down his profile, which seems to be filled with photos from his girlfriend in different stages of a selfie. Sickening, that’s what this level of self-obsession is.

His display picture is one of the two of them on the beach. He’s lifted her up around the waist and is kissing the side of her head as she grins that evil, Grim Reaper grin at the camera.

I try blocking out the various pictures of Nicole as I veer deeper into Jay’s profile. He’s perfect, utterly beautiful with his messy golden hair and ocean blue eyes. His smile kills me, those dimples in his cheeks, the freckles on his nose, those sharp cheekbones . . .

How lovesick do I sound? But he won’t even look at me because he’s too busy swapping spit with freaking Nicole Andrea Bishop. They’re the perfect couple. The kind that’s most likely to be voted Prom King and Queen. The kind who would eventually get married one day because it seems like the only logical conclusion. Perfection ends up with perfection, even if said perfection has a rotten, rotten core. Why can’t he see how evil his girlfriend is? How could he be blind to all her faults?

Oh wait, I remember. The fangs only come out when I’m around, and around him she’s as harmless as a Chihuahua. To give him credit, Jay always goes out of his way to say hello to me, and whenever we have class he offers to carry my books. Obviously I never let him because Nicole’s always just a few feet away with fire coming out of her nostrils.

I refresh his profile a couple of times because I’m feeling particularly sadistic. But my fingers freeze midway when I see a post. Not just any post, it’s The Post. The one that makes me want to shriek and throw the laptop fifty feet away. The death decree staring me right in the face says:

“I’m coming home, brother. Better throw me a killer party, Jay Jay.”

Curious to know who on earth could make me cower in fear, tremble in my proverbial boots, and wish that we still lived in the day and age of moats?

Well, the name that’s glaring at me viciously from the screen is Cole, Cole Stone, and it’s a name right up there with Nicole Andrea Bishop. The universe tends to work in mysterious ways, right? Well, at times I feel like with me the universe works with a slightly sickening sense of humor. What else would explain why the two people who have wreaked so much havoc in my life have rhyming names?

But I digress; my problem isn’t rhyming names, it’s the fact that Cole is . . . wait, Cole’s coming back? Oh crudsticks.

Cole, for those unaware of why my skin crawls at the sound of his very name, is Jay’s stepbrother and the one person apart from Nicole who seems to have made a hobby of making me miserable. He bullied me relentlessly all through elementary school and junior high. However, before we started high school, he being the delinquent that he is, inevitably ended up where all the miscreants do. Military school has kept him away from me for three years now.

And now he’s coming back.

Cole Stone, the reason why the nurses in the emergency room and I are on a first-name basis, is coming back to town. Oh my God, now there’s going to be two of them! Cole and Nicole will combine their evil satanic powers to make my life a living, breathing slasher flick.

I gulp and shut my laptop down, tossing it aside like it’s possessed.

Score one for the universe’s sickening sense of humor, and none for the blonde who always ends up dead in the bathtub.

Blurb From Goodreads:

A young adult paranormal romance from bestselling author C.M. Stunich…
*Book One in this Series, A WEREWOLF CHRISTMAS, is FREE on*

Sylvia Noe is a werewolf.

And now, so is her boyfriend, Josiah. Of course, accidentally infecting her high school sweetheart with lycanthropy was never part of the plan, but it’s nice to have somebody other than her parents to shift with (embarrassing, much?).

Too bad Josiah’s mother is actually from a long line of werewolf hunters—a line that doesn’t end with her. Josiah’s sister has just turned eighteen and is ready for her first kill. A few fireworks and some champagne isn’t going to stop her from crashing Sylvia’s New Year’s Eve party in her search for werewolves.

Oh, and then there’s that tiny little fact that Sylvia’s mother just happened to mention about werewolves mating for life. What’s that about?

My Review:

I am really enjoying this series!! Sylvia and Josiah are just too adorable. For some reason these two just can’t catch a break. Although the mom not sitting them down and telling them about all the rules is somewhat weird to me. But, with all that’s happened I’m sure there hasn’t been that much time. Plus, who knows how many rules there are and how long it would take to go over them. But anyway, on to the next book!

Author Bio:

C.M. StunichC.M. Stunich is a self-admitted bibliophile with a love for exotic teas and a whole host of characters who live full time inside the strange, swirling vortex of her thoughts.
