Blazing #BlogTour: The Wolf Mirror by Caroline Healy

The Wolf Mirror
Caroline Healy
Publication date: February 14th 2017
Genres: Historical, Romance, Young Adult

Changing places doesn’t always help you see things differently.

Cassie throws the first punch in a brawl at Winchester Abbey Girl’s School. Her subsequent suspension is a glitch in Cassie’s master plan; Finish School/Get Job/Leave Home (and never come back). As punishment her mother banishes her to Ludlow Park, their creepy ancestral home. In the dark of a stormy night Cassie finds herself transported to 1714, the beginning of the Georgian period.

With the help of a lady’s maid and an obnoxious gentleman, Mr Charles Stafford, Cassie must unravel the mysterious illness afflicting Lord Miller. If Lord Miller kicks the bucket the house goes to Reginald Huxley, the brainless cousin from London.

Cassie’s task is to figure out who is poisoning the Lord of Ludlow without exposing herself to the ridicule of her peers, getting herself committed to the asylum or worse, married off to the first man who will have her.

Cassie must learn to hold her tongue, keep her pride in check and reign in her rebellious nature – because the fate of her entire family, for generations, rests on her shoulders.

Meanwhile, Lady Cassandra Miller frantically searches for her smelling salts or her trusted governess Miss. Blythe, whose soothing advice she would dearly love. Instead Cassandra finds some woman and a boy squatting in the Ludlow mansion; her father, her lady’s maid and all the servants have magically disappeared.

Tell-a-vision, the In-her-net, horseless carriages and women wearing pantaloons; Cassandra is afraid that she might have inhaled fowl air causing her to temporarily lose her senses.

Only when both girls can get over their pride, societal prejudices and self-importance will they be able to return to their rightful century. Until then, they are free to wreak maximum damage on their respective centuries.

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo

EXCERPT:

Cassie lit a cigarette and inhaled deeply. Smoking on school property was strictly forbidden.

Who cares!

A black Mercedes waited for her by the gates. News of Cassie’s suspension had travelled fast. She walked down the stone steps and across the green, her satchel swinging from her slim shoulders.

The Principal must have phoned Cassie’s mother straight after the Incident.

She narrowed her eyes at the dark car. Justice Miller of the Queen’s Bench had sent a driver. Irritated, Cassie flicked the half smoked cigarette onto the manicured lawn.

At Winchester Abbey Girls’ School, no student had ever been caught fighting. It was unheard of. The Principal had spent a good twenty minutes lecturing both Cassie and Becky ‘The Troll’ Travers.

‘My ladies should never lower themselves to that of brawling delinquents.’ Mrs Pritchford’s glasses slid down her nose as she gesticulated in annoyance. ‘You have a reputation to uphold for the junior girls. Your behaviour is inexcusable,’ she sniffed. ‘Now, would one of you care to tell me what is going on?’

Cassie had remained tight lipped. To confess that they had been fighting over a boy, a flaker like Dwane Rubens, was not an option. It didn’t matter anyway. Becky ‘The Troll’ Travers was the Vice-Principal’s niece. Cassie was as good as done for as soon as she threw the first punch.

Frustrated, she yanked open the door of the car and slid into the back seat. She buckled her seat belt and turned to stare out the tinted window, ignoring the driver. They changed all the time anyway, so what was the point in making conversation?

The trip across London passed in silence. Cassie daydreamed about having a full time job, her own car, independence. All she wanted was to finish her exams. Then she would be free. Maybe she would go to France, visit her Dad. That would really piss her mother off.

The car turned a corner and pulled into a tailback of lunchtime traffic. The chauffeur muttered something under his breath.

‘A few minutes more Miss,’ he said, trying to catch her eye in the rear view mirror.

Cassie grunted, resenting every second spent in the confines of the Mercedes’s plush leather upholstery.

Bombastic #BookBlitz: Dorian by Carlos Dash

Dorian
Carlos Dash
Publication date: April 3rd 2017
Genres: New Adult, Romance

It was supposed to be a meaningless one-night stand. As a billionaire, I have plenty of those.

But she was different.

How was I supposed to know that I would fall in love with her?

And how was I supposed to know whose daughter she was?

Note: This is a New Adult Romance novel written entirely from the point of view of the male protagonist.

Goodreads / Amazon

EXCERPT:

Making sure the traces of confrontation have left my features, I smoothly meet the girl’s gaze and say, “Are you alright?”

“Yes, I think so,” she replies back to me, her lips pressed so tightly together that they look like one singular line. Despite the strength she showed earlier, she’s obviously having a hard time getting over what just happened. Her heart is probably going a mile a minute.

“Sorry about that.”

“What are you sorry for? You didn’t do anything wrong.”

“I know. I’m just apologizing on behalf of the entire male species.”

Her lips curl into a proper smile. Genuine.

“Well, in that case, on behalf of the entire female species, I accept your apology.” She looks at the empty chair across the table from her and nods at it, her brown locks shifting a little. “Would you like to sit down?”

I’d like to do a lot more than that.

“If you don’t mind,” I say innocently.

“Not at all. Have a seat.”

And so it begins.

I sit down in the chair and look across at the girl’s face. Our eyes meet—those brown orbs of hers pulling me in. We linger in that fashion for a bit longer than is necessary or normal, and then she looks away and pretends to be checking the time.

I keep staring at her, enjoying watching her squirm under my gaze.

“I’m Dorian,” I say eventually, offering my hand, which she takes into her own after the slightest bit of hesitation, meeting my eyes once again.

“Nice to meet you, Dorian.”

And that’s it. She just stops talking as she releases my hand. I expect her to say her own name, but she doesn’t.

EXCERPT:

In a violet polka dot dress and white sweater, Bertie looked like she should be playing bridge and sipping cocktails with the ladies. She embraced who she was wholeheartedly and without apology, her dedication to her authentic self remained evident.

“How’s it going?” Bertie handed Sal a sweet ginger peach tea and kissed Earl on the cheek.

“Okay,” Sal breathed. His chest muscles swelled from moved his ass to get the roses in before dark. “Is…”

“She’s fine.” The moment Bertie said it, Sal saw Kaci’s bright hair go walking towards the car. “She’s running to town to get some things for dinner. You should come take a rest.” Bertie winked at Sal in an attempt to get Earl to sit down.

“Oh! Ya! I’d love too!” Sal played along, feigning exhaustion. He smirked discreetly at Bertie as she walked next to him.

She glanced over to him, and without a sound from her lips she mouthed, “Thank you.”

At the back of the church, the covered porch stood with several rocking chairs. As Earl made his way inside, Sal parked his rump on the stairs. After Bertie had closed the door for her grandfather, she came up and sat close to Sal.

“Smoke?” she offered.

“Dear god, I’d love one.”

She opened the pack for him, and he slid one out. When he did, Bertie innocuously ran her hand over his back. Her touch sent a shiver through him.

“You’re soaked! Get that shirt off before you catch pneumonia!” Bertie hopped up, running into the house.

With the cigarette between his lips, he unbuttoned his damp shirt and tossed the ball cap off. Sal glanced at Bertie, who had reappeared and was studying him. Handing him a red plaid shirt, she blushed. “It’s easy to see what she sees in you.”

Putting on the shirt, he left it unbuttoned. He chuckled anxiously, “This is just…”

“Not what you expected,” Bertie finished, laying her hand a top his own.

“No. Not at all.” Sal shook his head with a smile and held onto her hand from beneath.

“Stop worrying you are going to offend me and just say what’s on your mind.”

“I don’t think I can to be honest.”

“Sure you can. Open up your mouth and talk to me. I won’t bite,” her words dripped slow like honey. “Stop thinking about my dick that you think I want to use like a man, Sal. That’s just a hiccup.”

Letting all his tension go, Sal laughed—a real, genuine laugh. “Are you going to…finish?”

Bertie caught his moss colored eyes with her own sparkling stormy grayish blues. “Am I going to have surgery? Probably one day. It’s not real high on my priority list at the moment. Granddad is dying.”

Heavy with emotional turmoil, his eyes peered into her soul. “I’m sorry I misjudged you.”

She squatted with her knees together, and reflected an intimate look. “Sal, it’s alright. Chill out. Have fun. Stop stressing. Remember, I…am…harmless.”

Feeling at ease, Sal smirked as her long eyelashes blinked at him.

Before he knew it, Bertie pressed her pretty, red lips against his own. Although his head knew better, he wanted to kiss her back—a full-on Raniero tongue-lashing. But he didn’t give her that for fear of what his fighting pixie would think or do to him. He wanted him and Kaci to work out, so he had to be good. He must keep his mind in check over his eager body.

The kiss was just a kiss. But his eyes were planted firmly on her tight derriere as she walked to the door. Everything about her sent him into overdrive. But he felt he was unobtainable for her, and that just made him hate himself that much more.

Bertie opened the door with a seductive grin, her generous, dark curls luring him in like bait. “Sal, I said I was harmless with Kaci. I didn’t say I would be with you.”

Blazing #BlogTour: Define Us by Serena Kearney

Define Us
Serena Kearney
(Scarred Bullet, #3)
Publication date: March 17th 2017
Genres: New Adult, Romance

I’m supposed to be strong.

Until I found I was in a relationship I swore I would never be in.

I didn’t know how trapped I was until Dean Sailer walked into the diner, making me question who I turned into.

Dean reeked of overconfidence. He’s sarcastic and thinks he’s funny.

The worst part is I find myself smiling when I don’t feel like it. He brought out something inside me that I locked away a long time ago.

I wanted nothing to do with him.

I wanted to stay contained in my world.

When tragedy threatens the life of me and my best friend, he’s the one I find myself relying on.

He’s there for me when no one else is.

No matter how much I try to resist Dean Sailer, he seems to delve deeper into a place I thought was gone.

Can I change?Or will I be the definition of what I’ve made myself out to be?

EXCERPT:

“Ranch, please?” Damn, this is so weird and I think he heard it in my voice.

He laughed and got up and came back with the bottle. “Anything else?” he asked before he sat down.

“No, thank you.” I started squirting it on my plate and dipping my pizza in it, when the music on the movie came on and the title flashed in big letters. I covered my mouth and tried not to laugh.

“What? What’s the big deal?” Dean laughed next to me.

I swallowed the pizza and looked over at him and lifted my brow. “Out of all those, you pick Rush Hour?”

“Hey, Jackie and Chris are hilarious together. Add some action and babes and you are set!” He gave a wink and then looked down at my plate and cringed. “Ranch on your pizza, really?”

“Have you tried it?” I held it up to him.

“No!” He tilted his head back like it was garbage I was shoving at him.

“Dean, come on, try it!” I moved it closer.

He bent his head down and sniffed it like he’d never seen ranch before. He took his pizza on his plate and dipped it in and then took a bite. His narrowed eyes and pulled brows were waiting to be disgusted, but then his whole face relaxed and his brows lifted up as he nodded his head slightly.

Damn, he is way too cute.

“Wow, this is actually really good.” He turned and dipped more, almost taking all of it.

“Hey! Get your own!” I put my plate back in my lap.

“Why the hell has this not been a requirement for pizza?” He took the bottle and squeezed him out a huge dollop and then continued eating. “Oh, I love this scene!” he pointed at the TV. We were at the part where the two cops were interfering with his undercover C-4 trade. “Look at their faces!” He almost spits his pizza as he laughed, which made me laugh even harder.

Author Bio:

I am a Leo. Born August 10, living on the east coast. I self-published my first novel, PNEUMA, November 2014, and it’s hasn’t stopped since.

One of my biggest problems was having too much to read. Now my newfound problem; having too much to write and not enough hands to type it out. Not enough brains to put the stories together fast enough. Not enough tea or coffee to keep me awake 24/7.

So, like every normal person, I have to take it one day at a time.

My cravings for sweets keep me going, any sort of cakes (especially red velvet), pies, cookies, and ice cream.

I have a cat named Bongo-Bongo, who loves to get in my way when I’m trying to work, but is too cute for me to fight him off.

And then I have my family, specifically my husband, who puts up with my endless nights, my tapping of the keyboard, my ridiculous imagination, and yet, he always encourages me to believe in myself and follow my dreams.

one problem, though: they still need a bassist. They audition dozens

onstage simply as Sinna, a bad ass metal head who’s perfect for the
band: pierced, tattooed, dressed in black from head to toe, and she
handles her bass with precision. She is a force to be reckoned with
and Nick is smitten.
When Nick gets her alone the first time to lay on the charm, he’s met
with a coolness he’s never experienced. Sabrina is mysterious and
thoroughly unimpressed with Nick and his behavior, and that’s when
he decides he has to have her. As he falls headlong for her, he
discovers her secrets, one dark shadow at a time. He thinks she loves
him back, but he can’t be sure. By the time he’s completely down

Locked and Loaded
Bullet Series Book 6
The FINAL book in the Bullet series.
Is it too much to believe that someone keeps returning to your life
because it’s meant to be?
Zane Carson is an idealistic young man with one big skeleton in his closet
when he first meets Jennifer Manders in college. They date only to
break up soon after. The sexual attraction is like an electromagnet
but they fight like alley cats. The relationship just isn’t worth
it.
Zane’s band Fully Automatic breaks big about the same time Jennifer finishes
college. One summer afternoon, they meet for coffee and sparks fly
once more. It’s off again, on again, but they just can’t make it
work and break it off for good, deciding it’s not worth the effort.
But Zane is drawn to her and, during a break in the music action, he
tracks her down again, willing to change himself for her and needing
to give her one last try. The attraction is as strong as ever, but
now Jennifer is hiding something from Zane—something big, something
that threatens to extinguish the spark for good. When Zane discovers
her secret, will he be able to forgive her or will that be the end?
For years, Jade C. Jamison tried really hard to write what she thought
was more “literary” fiction, but she found herself
compelled to write what you read by her today–sometimes gritty, raw,
realistic stories and other times humorous, light tales–but most of
the stories she writes revolve around relationships and characters
finding their way through life. While she doesn’t confine herself to
just one genre, nor is there a nice neat label for what she writes,
most of her work could be called erotic romance. Her main writing
passions include rock star romance, romantic comedy, and romantic
suspense.
She lives in Colorado with her husband and four children.

But will his clandestine mission take
second place to his irresistible tutor, her intriguing proposal . . .
and true love?
Before moving to Nevada in 1994, Wilma
Counts taught high school English and social studies in Germany to
dependents of American forces stationed there. She loved the kids,
but hated meaningless paperwork. She especially enjoyed her work with
Advance Placement English, Model United Nations, and student
exchanges with a Russian school.
Wilma grew up in Oregon, a product of
the Leave It To Beaver era. She holds degrees in education and
international relations. Having traveled widely, she is keenly
interested in politics and international relations. She freely admits
to being a C-SPAN junkie.
A member of the Romance Writers of
America, she has written two Regency novels and a novella for Zebra.
Willed to Wed is slated for publication in September, ’99, and My
Lady Governess in February, ’00. Her current projects include another
Regency and a novel set in the American West. She contributes a
regular column on grammar and usage to the local RWA newsletter.
Besides her interest in travel and writing, Wilma is an avid reader
and she loves to cook, garden, and gamble—not necessarily in that
order.

EXCERPT:

Echo couldn’t bring herself to admit to Jen just how tempted she was to see Cole again. She knew where to find him. But the fact that he thought she was someone else ensured that she couldn’t make the effort. And after a few days, maybe she needed to leave it alone. It was a special memory, but she couldn’t really go there again. Whatever else might happen, she would always have those hours with Cole to remind her that she was desirable for more than just her name. That someone cared about what she thought.

Just thinking about him was enough to make her flush. But she didn’t have time for that now. Fantasy over. Real-life time.

There had been some debate about where the initial meeting should take place. At the estate, or maybe somewhere more public? Or in the spirit of their goals, should they all head straight to the nearby athletic club where most of her coaching would happen?

In the end, it had been decided that they’d meet up at the athletic club, which had a restaurant on site for members. Then, once introductions were made, her mom and dad would leave for one of Dad’s appointments, letting Echo and her new coach go over her training schedule on their own. When her father’s appointment was over, they would pick Echo up again on their way home, and no one would be any wiser.

Echo swallowed her objections to keeping the others in the dark and dressed for a lunch at the club, packing her running clothes and shoes into a duffel bag just in case. What was a little lying and secret-keeping between friends?

When they arrived, she quickly excused herself and ran down to the locker room to stow the bag and do a final check to calm her nerves and put on the brave face she knew her parents were expecting. You can do this, Echo. For Dad.

Coming into the small and intimate club dining room, Echo searched for her parents, and spotted them in the corner. A dark haired man had his back to her as he leaned across the table to shake her father’s hand. She was about to step towards the table when a waiter appeared to address the trio, and the guy turned to listen.

Holy fuckballs on a cracker. Echo froze, even as her heart hammered a tattoo on her ribs. Cole. Her new coach was fucking Cole?

She was sure it was him. The tilt of his head, his crooked smile. Her hand shot to the place on her neck where she was still using concealer to even out the tone of her skin and a higher collar to cover up the hickey he’d given her.

It’s not possible, she told herself as she watched her parents’ attention shift back to him when the waiter headed for the kitchen. The fancy job he’d been out celebrating was with her damn family. The person he loathed, the one he was dreading working for…was her.

Author Bio:

USA Today Best Seller, Nana Malone’s love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense she “borrowed” from her cousin.

It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She’s been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.

While she waits for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin, in the meantime Nana works out her drama, passion and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as she thinks she is.
