My Review:

Wow, just… wow!!! Talk about a roller-coaster ride. Right from the start this book is non-stop excitement, there’s always something happening, something to fight or some conflict, internal or external, that make the words just fly off the page. It felt so real as the movie played in my head. And the last like 20% was so intense, so many things coming to light along with some massive fighting. This series should be on everyone’s TBR list and definitely jump to the top. Book one was great but this one blew it out of the water. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. Oh the torture of waiting!

My Review:

Ooooh, this was good. Vampires have immortality and can transfer it to witches but not werewolves. Yet the wolves believe that the vampires are just keeping it to themselves so there’s no love between the two species. This story has many twists and turns that keep you hooked until the very end. Warning, it’s a cliffhanger, but the perfect place to end the story. It left me baffled yet craving more. I love the uniqueness of it, it’s not just everyone lives forever or fated mates, or even just good versus evil. I’m still trying to figure out if the King of France, a vampire, is truly good or evil, like his brother seems to be. I look forward to the next book in the series!

Author Bio:

R. MurrayA little about me and I can assure that I hate doing these bio things.
I am a London girl currently living and working in Auckland New Zealand. My day job is a dog wrangler (A dog supervisor at a dog day care centre).  The weekend is when I can become the author I dream of one day being,
I have written all of my life, but mainly fanfictions. A few years ago I discovered a RP group on twitter and for two years I wrote with them in many forms and found my love for writing again.
After a very personal bit of cyberbullying from someone I once called a friend my confidence was destroyed and I stopped writing for a while.  The monster could not keep me down for long and the abuse I suffered at their hands  became my drive to write once more.
That is how I have ended up here, about to release my first novel and I have many more adventures planned.
My writing is mainly paranormal and aimed very much at the YA market, but anyone can read them I hope. I mean lets face it who doesn’t love some sexy vampires and werewolves?
When I am not writing and wrangling dogs I read, alot, anything and everything. I love discovering new authors and new genres that I never thought I would read.

Clever #CoverReveal: Witch’s Wrath by Katerina Martinez

Witch’s Wrath
Katerina Martinez
(Blood And Magick, #3)
Publication date: June 30th 2017
Genres: Adult, Urban Fantasy

A new witch in town, a brutal bloodbath, and I’m out of options.

Evil gathers in the Louisiana swamps, and it comes for the witches of New Orleans. If I had known, maybe I would have kept my guard up; I would have spent more time securing the city instead of spending my time learning about magick, and trying to bring witches and vampires together. But vanquishing the demon-bloods left us complacent, and comfortable. We celebrated, and enjoyed the period of peace that followed.

Now we have no idea of the danger we’re all in.

When unidentified vampires come in the night, swift and deadly, the witches of the city are left scattered, hurt, and broken. Though I’m wracked with grief for the injured and the dead, I have to find a way to lead, but there are those who won’t make that easy for me; those who would rather go back to the old days, where witches killed vampires with impunity, whether they were decent people or not. I can’t allow that to happen. We worked too hard to make New Orleans an inclusive place, and I’ll die before I let someone destroy everything we’ve built.

Inspired by fantastic authors such as Karen Marie Moning, Richelle Mead, and Shannon Mayer, Magick Reborn is the first book in Katerina’s brand-new Blood and Magick series of urban fantasy novels. Like deep mysteries, plenty of steam in your romance, and watching your heroine become a badass? This is the book for you!

Katerina Martinez is an up and coming author who writes supernatural fiction with a creepy, thrilling, and romantic bent. Though she has been writing for a couple of years, her success recently exploded with the release of “Dark Siren”, the first book in the breakout “Half-Lich” Trilogy which became an instant bestseller in 2016.

She follows the “Half-Lich” series with the “Blood and Magick” series—a story about a young writer who, in the aftermath of a brutal breakup, moves to a magickal new city in the hopes of rediscovering herself. In “Magick Reborn”, we pick up after Madison makes her move to New Orleans and watch her as she settles in, meets the local witches, and discovers a terrible, deadly secret hiding right under her nose.

Rapturous #NewRelease #Blitz: Beautiful Deception by Ember Raine-Winters

Title: Beautiful Deception ~ Pride and
Honor 3
Author: Ember-Raine Winters
Release Date: June 30th, 2017
Genre: Romantic Suspense

This is the third book in the Pride and Honor Series, but it can be read as a standalone

Marcy

He knows. He knows what I did and there is no way he will ever forgive me. That’s the least of my worries. Now, that secret, that little boy that holds my heart in his hands has been stolen from us. I’ll do whatever it takes to get him back. Even if it costs me my life.

Mac

Marcy had always been mine. I thought she always would be. A misunderstanding ruined that. Ruined any chance for us to be happy. She stole that chance… that life. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to forgive her. The truth is I never stopped loving her, and I’ll do whatever it takes to save her.

The plane ride had been over five hours so far, and it felt like the longest of my life. I didn’t know what was going on with Marcy and Kenzie, and worse, I had no idea where my son was, and that was killing me the most.

Twitch was doing his nervous twitchy thing and it had me on edge. “What’s the matter, brother?” I asked warily.

“I got a bad feeling about this.”

“Shit. Really?” I got up from my seat. I knew better than anyone what Twitch’s feelings resulted in. He had an uncanny sixth sense when things were about to go bad and fast. I couldn’t sit still any longer.

“Mac, it’s going to be okay, we will get him back,” Tasha said vehemently.

I nodded but continued pacing. There was nothing else I could do until we landed and saw what the situation was. Tasha was upset too. Marcy was her friend and Tasha’s dad, Barnes, was responsible for this mess. We all knew he was behind it, but we didn’t have one fucking detail yet.

The worst part of this whole shit show? That I was still pissed at Marcy, and I was feeling completely guilty about that. How could I be so angry with someone and still love her at the same time? It had been twelve years since she left me, and yet I still thought of little else. I should have fought harder. I should have stayed in Baltimore and made her talk to me.

The flight attendant came out and told us to put our seat belts on in preparation of our descent, so I sat down next to Tasha. I never stopped moving though. My knee was bouncing up and down burning off my nervous energy.

“You still love her don’t you?” Tasha placed her hand on my knee.

“It doesn’t matter.”

“Sure it does.”

“No, Tasha. It really doesn’t. She made her choice. She knew what her decision would do to me and she did it anyway. She knew how important having a family was to me and she stole that from me. So, no, the fact that I still love her makes no difference because she obviously never loved me.”

Tasha glared at me for all of five seconds before her tirade began. “That’s bullshit Mac and you know it. I could tell when you all rescued us from Doug’s basement that she was still in love with you. I could tell the day that Twitch proposed to me and she screamed in my face about Twitch ruining everything that she felt guilty for what she had done. I had no idea what it was at the time, but I could see it. You both need to get over your hang ups, stop being stupid, and just be together because everyone can see that’s what you both want.”

“Okay, babe,” Twitch said softly, seated on the other side of her. “That’s enough.”

She looked angry and I had no idea why. I had heard Marcy had freaked on Tasha that morning but I wasn’t sure why.

Even if I hadn’t found out the way I did, I would have found out eventually, especially now with all the craziness. I thought about that in silence the whole drive to Brock’s compound.

“Shit, is that smoke?” Griffin asked when we were about a mile away. Everyone started yelling at once.

“Go, go, go. You have to go faster,” I yelled at the same time Tasha said, “Holy fuck, holy fuck, that’s Brock’s compound.”

“Tasha, it’s okay. I’m sure they are fine. Brock has cameras everywhere. They saw it coming.” Twitch attempted reassurance while rubbing her shoulders. “They had to have seen it coming.”

He added the last part mostly to himself, but he looked at me with a grimace. I knew he was as worried as Tasha, but I was jumping out of my skin. Marcy had to be okay. She just had to be. There was no other option. I was not losing them both.

The gate was a twisted pile of burning metal and I thought the worst. The thick column of smoke got thicker and hung heavier in the air the closer we got to the house. Griffin was driving as fast as he could, but there was very little visibility. If we weren’t careful the smoke would cause an accident and we might never make it to Pix.

The bright orange flames engulfed the house. My heart nearly beat out of my chest when I saw it.

“Shit, what do we do?” Trey asked, panicked.

“Get on the phone with emergency services and leave an anonymous call about the fire. We will search the surrounding area for any sign of them,” Griffin commanded.

“If they were in the safe room, there is a possibility they are still in the house. How do we get in there to check?” I asked completely irrationally.

“We don’t.”

“Fuck that. I’m going in there and you’re not stopping me, Griffin.”

I jumped from the SUV and went around to the back. Grabbing my bag, I rifled through it and found a small hand towel and a bottle of water. After pouring some on the towel, I dumped the rest on my head.

“Bro, you can’t go in there,” Twitch said from behind me.

“Yes, I can, and I am.” I shoved past him towards the house.

“Mac, you can’t.” Tasha attempted to get in front of me.

“Don’t. He popped his shoulder out of place trying to get to you when you were locked in that basement.” I pointed wildly at my cousin. “He was a mad man when it came to looking for you. I will move you out of my way if I have to, Tasha.”

Thankfully, she stepped aside after that. The closer I got to the house the hotter it got. It looked like whoever had set fire to the house had busted the door down first. I got down low and held the towel over my nose and mouth and went inside. It was like a horror show in there. The heat was so bad I felt like my blood was boiling and my skin was searing off.

“Marcy,” I yelled through the towel over my mouth. “Marcy.”

Please God, let her be okay.

That was when I heard a slight tapping. A support beam had fallen and held the door to the saferoom closed from the outside. The tapping was faint, and I prayed that the room was air locked. If not she would have smoke inhalation by the time I was able to get to her.

The beam was on fire and blocking the door. Removing my jacket, I wrapped it around my hands and grabbed the only part of the beam that wasn’t burning and pulled. I used all my strength, but it refused to budge and I knew that I couldn’t continue my heavy breathing, or I would be dead in minutes.

A hand came out then, and grabbed another part of the beam. Trey and I lifted it together and moved it away from the door.

I pushed the door open and that was when I saw her. All five-foot-two beautiful Pixie laying on the floor. Her face was ashen, and I could tell she was barely hanging on. Picking her up, I cradled her to my chest and silently prayed.

Trey and I tried to move quickly, but the house was falling down around us. Every few steps, we had to dodge a board or a beam. The floor beneath was losing its integrity as well.

“Hurry Trey, or we’re gonna be buried alive,” I shouted just as the floor gave way beneath my foot.

“Mac,” Trey bellowed, not realizing what had happened. “Come on, man. We gotta go.”

“Take her and get out of here. As soon as I get my leg out I will be right behind you.”

Trey started to argue, but the look I gave him was lethal. He grabbed Marcy and headed stealthily to the door.

When they cleared the front door, I covered my mouth with the edge of my shirt to get a breath of air and then attempted to get my foot out of the floor. Every time I pulled, a searing pain shot through it. I gritted my teeth and tried again, but I was already coughing from the lack of oxygen in the room. I laid my head down to give myself a moment and try to catch a breath, but it was useless. Just before everything went black, I felt a pair of hands pulling me back towards the flames.

One night was all it took. One accident and I could no longer outrun my past. The terror I’d escaped was hot on my trail and the only person I could turn to was the man who’d hurt me the most.

Being a cop, I didn’t have any choice, but I really wish I hadn’t got mixed up in this case. My dark past is catching up to me ever since he barreled into my life without a care. It terrifies me that he sees right through me. He could be the one to save me . . . or break me.

Twitch
It was just a job. Until it wasn’t. By then the sexy little redhead had her claws in me. Now, she’s in my life and I’m lost. How am I supposed to keep the demons from her past from eating her alive? I don’t know, but I will do whatever it takes to make her mine.

50 Hours
50 HOURS
Loree Lough
Genre: General Fiction
Publisher: Progressive Rising Phoenix Press
Publication Date: June 30, 2017
A broken man, a dying woman, and a friendship that changes them both.
Franco Allessi is a broken, lonely man who wants nothing more than to outrun the ghosts of his past. For years, he tries to numb the pain of his wife’s death with cheap beer and whiskey. When he’s convicted of drunk driving, the judge revokes his license for six months and orders him to serve fifty hours of community service. Franco chooses Savannah Falls Hospice for no reason other than it’s walking distance from his dilapidated house trailer.
On his first day on the job, he meets Aubrey Brewer, a woman whose time on earth is quickly ticking to a stop. Their unusual connection teaches powerful, life-changing lessons about friendship, acceptance, and the importance of appreciating that precious treasure called Life.
Loree Lough is an exceptional author, and that’s why I approached her about writing the novel for my Feature film, 50 Hours. But I had no idea how wonderful her novelization would be until I read it. Loree was able to dig so deep into my characters. She unearthed and richly developed the film’s skeletal characters and give them three dimensional lives. I am so happy with the book!
– Kevin O’Neill, writer/director/actor/producer

50 Hours Teaser

An Excerpt from the Book

Take an inside look at 50 Hours with this sizzling excerpt from the book.
DURING THE DRIVE BETWEEN THE COURTHOUSE AND MAMA’S BOY DINER, David Gibbons barely spoke. Even now, seated at their table near the windows, he remained quiet. Except for reciting his breakfast order, he hadn’t said a word, but Franco knew it was only a matter of time before he let him have it with both barrels, as his grandpa used to say.
Finally, when the waitress was out of earshot, he stared hard at Franco.
“Well?”
A-a-and there it is, he thought, running shaky hands through his hair. “Okay. Look. I know I should have called before all hell broke loose, but . . . but I was testing myself.”
David grabbed the sugar dispenser. “Testing yourself.” He sounded more like a disappointed dad than an AA sponsor.
“I thought maybe I could get through it on my own this time.”
“Bull.” He let the white granules stream into his cup. “You didn’t think. If you had, you would’ve given a thought to what happened last year. And the year before that.”
Franco knew he’d messed up. Again. And that he had nobody to blame but himself. Head pounding, he rubbed his temples as David’s spoon clanked against the sides of the mug. Had he ever met anyone who made more noise stirring coffee? He didn’t think so.
David pointed at Franco’s swollen lips and the bloody butterfly bandage a nurse at the jail had taped over his left eyebrow. “So, who cleaned your clock?”
“Well, there was this pool cue, see . . . ”
“Real funny. I notice you’re favoring your right ankle. I suppose the pool cue did that, too.”
“No. That was the work of the biker, attached to the pool cue.” Franco chuckled, then gripped his aching ribcage.
“Busted ribs too, huh?”
“Probably.”
“Probably? You mean they didn’t take you to the ER?”
“They offered. I said no.”
“Idiot.”
David couldn’t call him anything he hadn’t already called himself.
“You’re gonna have one heckuva scar when you peel that bandage off your forehead. Maybe it’ll serve as a reminder, help you really think next time you decide to, ah, test yourself.”
“You’re all heart, David. All heart.” He smirked. “Except for your mouth, of course. That’s more like another part of your anatomy.”
David waved away the insult. “You know how frustrating it is, watching you get this close to earning your one-year chip,” he said, thumb and forefinger an inch apart, “and then you go and bungle it by pulling another dumb stunt? Every. Single. Year?”
Franco didn’t have a comeback for that one. He’d screwed up. Royally. At least no one got hurt, other than himself. David knew it, too.
The men sat in stony silence as the waitress delivered their food.
David peeled back the top of a tiny jelly container. “When was the last time you went to a meeting?” he asked, smearing its contents on a wedge of toast.
It had been more than a month, but Franco didn’t want to open himself up to another firestorm, so he stuffed his mouth with food and shrugged.
David counted on his fingers: “Pushing your limits. Breaking the rules. Avoiding tough questions.” He salted his eggs. “You remind me so much of my kid, it’s almost scary.” He used his fork as a pointer. “And that shouldn’t come across as a compliment, since he’s ten.”
Touché, Franco thought, gulping his OJ. He winced when it stung the cuts inside his mouth.
“Maybe this community service stuff will finally shake some sense into you.”
He’d been acting like a fool for so long, it had become a habit. And yet he said, “Maybe.”
“How long did the judge give you to choose your community service project?”
“Twenty-four hours.”
“Well, it just so happens I have an idea.”
Franco stopped chewing. “Yeah?”
“There’s a hospice, a half-mile or so from your trailer— which is lucky for you, since you can’t drive—and I happen to know they’re in need of a gardener.”
Before Jill’s death, his landscape business had kept the wolf from the door. In the three years since, the only garden tool he’d touched had been the shovel Clayton kept out back for scooping up his dog’s poop. It might be nice, working hard again. Working so hard that he fell into bed too exhausted to have nightmares about the wreck that took Jill from him.
“You know the old saying, ‘If it seems too good to be true’?” Franco lifted one shoulder in an indifferent shrug. “But you’ve got my attention.”
David explained that his sister-in-law had spent her final days at Savannah Falls. “So I know for a fact that it’s a great place. I can take you over there, make introductions.”
“I dunno, Dave. A hospice center? You know better than anybody that I’m not exactly a people person. Dealing with sick people?” He winced again.
“Oh, quit your bellyaching. You’ll be outside, mowin’ and hoein’, and the patients will be inside—”
“—dying.” Hungry as he was, Franco shoved his plate aside, because it hurt to chew, and the bacon and buttery eggs burned the cut on his lip. “I dunno,” he said again.
“You’ll do fine, if you just do your job and keep your big yap shut. For a change.”
Franco grinned despite himself. Had it been good luck or bad that put him together with a guy who never sugar-coated anything?
David slid his cell phone across the table. “Call your lawyer, find out how we go about informing the judge that you’ve decided to get back into the posie-planting business. Cause last thing you need right now is to violate courthouse protocol.”
Franco slid Carlisle’s card from his pocket, and as he dialed, David said, “When you’re through there, I’ll call Mrs. Kane, the director, arrange a meeting between you two. She’s a good egg, but she doesn’t take any guff, so I’d watch my step if I were you. With any luck, she’ll put you to work tomorrow.”
“I have a job, y’know.” At least he hoped he had a job. Clayton might tell him to take a permanent hike once he heard . . . everything.
It only took a minute to run the hospice idea past the young attorney, and less than that to find out that a phone call from Carlisle would get things straight with Judge Malloy.
He returned David’s phone. “The kid said I should get over to Savannah Falls and sign up ASAP. Said the judge’s office wouldn’t waste any time checking up on me. And that I need to keep track of my hours, so that when the paperwork comes through . . . ”
Phone pressed to his ear, David wasn’t listening, because he’d already connected with Savannah Falls. Franco picked up a slice of cold bacon, and took care not to let it graze his sore lips when he bit off a chunk. He slid the plate close again. Hard to tell when he’d have the time—or the money—for another meal, so he did his best to clean his plate, listening as David explained the situation to the takes-no-guff Mrs. Kane.
“She can meet with you this afternoon,” he said, dropping the phone into his shirt pocket.
It was all happening too fast. Way too fast for Franco’s taste. “But . . . but I need to figure out how to get the Jeep out of the impound lot. And get over to the garage, see if Clayton can find something for me to do that doesn’t involve a driver’s license.”
“I’ll chauffer you around today. But first things first. I’m taking you home so you can clean up your boozy self. You need a shower. A toothbrush. And a change of clothes.” He wrinkled his nose. “You look—and smell—like something my cat puked up.”
“Cat puke, huh?” Franco smirked, even though it hurt to do it. “People can call you a lot of things, Gibbons, but tactful isn’t one of them.”
“Tact!” David got to his feet and tossed a twenty onto the table. “Who has time for tact with you falling off the wagon and going ballistic every couple months?”
Ordinarily, a crack like that would have set Franco off. For some reason, it struck him as weird penance, because he knew he had it coming.

Bombastic #BookBlitz: Breaking Roman by Alexis James

Breaking Roman
Alexis James
(The Moran Family #3)
Publication date: June 27th 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

They call me Romeo.

I love romancing women, and I’m good at it.

Too bad it is all a ruse.

Roman, the youngest of the three Moran brothers, is the only one who has ever believed in true love. Too bad his one special person barely acknowledges his existence.

Sabrina Morris spends her days running the HR Department of The Moran Group, and her nights corralling her teenage daughter. She doesn’t have time for love. She’s heard the stories, but Roman is not at all what she expects him to be. His gentle nature catches her completely off-guard. She doesn’t expect to be attracted to him, and she certainly doesn’t expect him to be equally drawn to her. But can she see past his Romeo façade and allow the warm, loving man into her life?

PROLOGUE:

They call me Romeo. It’s not my given name, but that hardly matters.

I earned the moniker when I was a young little shit, maybe twelve. My friends and I were at the beach, like we were most every day during the summer, taking full advantage of the fact that we live near the water in Miami. We were cussing, simply because we thought it sounded cool (it didn’t), strutting around with fake bravado trying to impress all the girls we’ve known since kindergarten. My friend Raul dared me to talk to Missy Evers, the new girl who recently moved here from Idaho. An hour after that first chat with cutie-pie Missy, who by the way still rocks a bikini like nobody’s business, she was holding my hand. Two hours later my tongue was working hard to get into her mouth and I got my first feel of a female breast, even if it belonged to a relatively flat-chested twelve-year-old girl. That little make-out session happened strategically within eyesight of my group of boisterous friends, because at that age only two things matter: getting some action and making sure your friends know about it. And that’s all it took for the nickname to stick. Now, at the ripe old age of twenty-nine, it’s something I despise.

I was a halfway decent guy even back then, so most of my time with Missy was G-rated. When she finally took off with her giggling friends in tow, she was starry eyed, hanging on my every word. My dumb buddies, who knew nothing about who or what the Shakespearian Romeo was really like, pranced around like a bunch of idiots, harping, “Romeo got him some!” Groping a girl with a bunch of onlookers was considered “getting some.” How messed-up is it that?

In all the years that I’ve carried the stupid nickname around, I’ve served it well. Even my sweet mama calls me that, though in her eyes I’ll always be her baby boy. Honestly, I’m a hopeless romantic. I believe in love and all the great things that come with it. I believe in monogamous relationships, unlike my older brothers, who up until a few years ago made bed-hopping an Olympic event. That’s not to say I don’t do my own share of bed-hopping, but mine is more about the … research, part of my daily quest to find my ideal mate. I date frequently, constantly searching for the one woman who stands above all others. The one woman who I have an immediate connection with and see myself standing next to when we’re old and gray. When I date we have some laughs together; I charm and wine and dine. We flop around on the mattress a few times and by week two I’m usually bringing the lucky lady home for Sunday dinner with my entire family.

No one has ever lasted past Sunday dinner.

It’s not that my family isn’t welcoming, because they are. But Mama figured out years ago that in my hunt for Mrs. Right, first I’d have to spend my time with all the Miss Wrongs out there. She’s gracious and kind to whichever woman I bring home, giving me a knowing look at the end of the meal that silently says, “Oh hell no.” Well … without the swearing, but you get what I’m saying. My devout Catholic mother would never, ever swear.

In the past few years I’ve brought upwards of twenty different women home to meet my family. Some don’t last through the entire meal. Some make the grave mistake of seeing dollar signs. While my family’s empire is considerable, I down play it as much as possible. I do well, I make good money, have a cool car and a decent place to live. But I’m not the millionaire my oldest brother Cruz is or the numbers guy that my other brother Marco is. I’m the black sheep brother, different in every way from the other two arrogant dicks I happen to be related to. I enjoy getting my hands dirty, wearing ratty jeans, and romancing women. Cruz and Marco are both suit-wearing hotshots who ooze over-confidence and up until Cruz got hitched to Mia and Marco shackled himself to Amita, they were both serious players. Well, to be fair to my oldest brother, I’m only assuming he was a player before meeting Mia. It’s not like he ever shared any tawdry bedroom happenings with me. That’s cool and all and to each his own, but it’s not my style. I see no point bullshitting my way between a woman’s legs, especially when I can say a few nice things and treat them decently and still get the same result.

I suppose I’ve earned the damned nickname, but that sure as hell doesn’t mean I like it. I have a hard enough time keeping up with my two older brothers without that damn label being tossed around. Maybe I’m being over-sensitive; my actions don’t exactly discourage the name. I just don’t think anyone takes me seriously anymore and who knows, maybe I’ve done that to myself. Maybe I really am Romeo.

What my brothers don’t know is that this Romeo found his Juliet years ago, more than three to be exact. He met her simply by chance, one of those meant-to-be moments that has sadly turned out to be anything but. His Juliet is blind to his advances, businesslike and driven in everything she does. His Juliet is beautiful, ethereal, and totally and completely untouchable. So he continues to wine and dine, romance and sweet talk, all as a ruse to hide what’s really in his heart. It’s nothing more than a lame attempt to somehow figure out what makes Juliet tick and in doing so keeping all the unwanted family questions at bay.

Whether or not I am a true Romeo remains to be seen. What I do know is that I’ll be whomever I have to be to get to know the illusive Juliet.

Under the bright lights of Nashville, Levi Austin is a country music superstar whose life is rocked by the tragic death of his former wife, leaving him to raise their two daughters. Now faced with having to tell his girls, and making the hard decision about where they’ll live, Levi packs his bags and rushes off to Los Angeles—the last place he wants to be, but the one place where no one will recognize him.

Zara Phillips loves two things: her husband Van, and the band she created with her brother, Reverend Sister. To her, her life is perfect until she discovers that her high school sweetheart husband is cheating on her. The paparazzi are relentless, forcing a devastated and heartbroken Zara to stay hidden until the record label demands she shoot a video for the band’s new single, driving her out of seclusion.

Two people collide from opposite worlds. Neither knowing who the other is, yet both intrigued by one another. When Levi spills hot coffee on Zara, everything changes. He’s focused on his daughters, trying to do what’s best for them while Zara is determined to get away from everyone and everything in Los Angeles.

When Levi offers her sanctuary at his home in Nashville, Zara jumps at the opportunity to disappear… with the hopes that Levi comes with her.

What transpires next are the lives of two very different people finding their path along a very bumpy and unforgiving road, who are tested by their loved ones, the media and one ex that doesn’t want to go away quietly.

You’re never prepared for that moment. It could be anything from finding out you’re pregnant or learning that your band, the one you’ve been in since you were seventeen, has just been nominated for a Grammy. I wish my moment were one of those, but unfortunately, mine comes in the form of finding out my husband of ten years, Van Phillips, has been having an affair.

And how does one find this out? Well, if you’re me, you walk into your publicist’s office to find your husband banging her assistant. I mean I’m happy that it’s not my publicist bent over her desk with my husband pounding into her because that would really ruin my day.

There is no recovery for something like this. Even as I stand here with my mouth open with tears streaming down my face, nothing fixes this. Not the look of regret that he gives me as he pulls out of her and quickly stuffs himself back into his pants. Not the “oh shit” look she flashes as she hurries to fix her skirt, making me wonder where the fuck her panties are.

You’re not prepared when your publicist actually walks into her office oblivious that two people were just fucking on her desk and she asks if you’re ready to get to work on your next tour.

What the fuck does someone do in this situation? There isn’t a handbook on how to handle your husband when he gets caught cheating, let alone when you find out he has been unfaithful, although there should be because it seems to happen more often than not in Los Angeles. It’s clear that I should’ve taken some classes on how to handle my emotions by the death glare he’s given me. It’s as if I’m supposed to “man up” and pretend as if nothing has happened. Like I am somehow at fault here.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what I do because I’m moving on autopilot, still trying to decipher if what I saw was real or an optical illusion because I can’t fathom why my husband would cheat on me. It’s not like we don’t have a healthy sex life. In fact, he had no qualms taking care of my needs this morning. Apparently, I didn’t take care of his, though.

I take one of the two seats in front of Laura’s desk, cringing when she sets a pile of folders in the spot where my husband had her assistant bent over, the same one who is now scurrying away to fetch coffee. Not that I would drink anything she hands to me because for all I know she’s trying to kill me so she can have my cheating-ass-bastard of a spouse all to herself. Newsflash, Trina… Trisha… Tanya, whatever the fuck her name is… she can have him. As far as I’m concerned this is unforgivable, and the fact that he’s sitting down next to me as if nothing has happened makes my skin crawl.

Oh God, he fucking smells like her cheap ass perfume too. I pretend to gag, except I’m really gagging since my stomach is doing its own version of gymnastics and I have a feeling that I’m about to lose my breakfast all over Laura’s desk any second now. I lean away and not so subtly move my chair farther from him. He reaches out to touch me, but I glare at him. I throw so many daggers that I’m imagining each one hitting him square in his chest. He must understand that I don’t want to be fucked with right now because he pulls his hand away.

That is until the tart walks back in with two cups of coffee. Laura doesn’t look up from the paper she’s reading when her mug is set on her desk, but my husband, he fucking perks up like this bitch is his only means to feed his caffeine addiction. And because I am living in some alternative universe, she has no qualms about brushing up against his arm and making sure he can see her tits when she unnecessarily bends over to give him his coffee.

“That’s it, I’m out of here,” I say as I stand up.

Laura looks up quickly, she’s confused and rightly so.

“Sit down, Zara,” Van has the nerve to say. I can’t even be bothered to look at him so I look at Laura and smile as best I can because right now shit hurts inside and all I want to do is break down and cry.

“I walked in a few minutes early for our meeting and found Van and your assistant fucking on your desk. You might want to sterilize it and find a new assistant because if you don’t, I’m walking.”

I don’t need Laura to say anything. The wide eyes and open mouth are enough for me to know that I’ve shocked her. Behind me, I can hear Van yelling my name, but he’s not following me. No, he chose to stay back with the bimbo instead of getting up and chasing after his wife to tell her how sorry he is and that what he did was a mistake. But I know better. I could tell by the look on his face that he was only sorry that he didn’t get to finish before he got caught.

Lelly Hughes is named after her grandmothers. She’s a dreamer who writes words to tell stories about falling in love. Ocean fanatic. Loves the feel of warm sand.

FAMOUS LOVE is her first novel.

Nearly two decades later, Michael has moved from victim to survivor, using his

Talking with the Dead
**Mnix
~ Amazon Review**

Talking with the Dead is an intriguing quick read with a touch of romance. The main focus of the
book revolves around the mystery of the killer with the romance between Michael
and Daisy running on the
sidelines. I agonized with Michael in parts of

the story, his inner struggles are written flawlessly. Michael and Daisy both
have personal struggles to overcome before they can admit to wanting to be with
each other. It was refreshing to watch as Michael dealt with his ghosts and
finally went after what he wanted, Daisy.

Although
Lucas never mentioned it, and neither did Mom, Michael O’Rourke was a
disappointment and he knew it.
Lucas,
now, Lucas was everything their charlatan mother could ever hope for. She’d
taught him well, teaching him how to run scams, how to pick pockets and how to
evade cops and social workers. Yeah, she’d taught him well, all right – maybe
too well. Lucas was sixteen. Strong. Smart. He wasn’t going to hang around and
keep helping his mother run her scams.
She
called herself Lavonne, but her birth name was Rachel O’Rourke. Her great gift
in life was in the grift. She could run a scam like nothing Michael had ever
seen. Evan Lucas couldn’t sucker them in the way Mama could.
But
Lucas had gifts, real gifts, the kind
Mama liked to pretend she had. He saw things.
The
“sight” Mama called it. Ran in her family, she liked to say, although Michael
didn’t’ think she had ever seen anything that he couldn’t see with his own two
eyes. Lucas once told Mike that their mama couldn’t see a spirit if it bit her
on the ass. They’d laughed themselves sick, thinking about it.
Lucas
could see, though. He knew things. He
had known when it was time to leave New Orleans and he had known when it was
time to leave Memphis and he had warned her about going to Nashville. She’d
pissed people off there, but Lavonne was stupid. Plain and simple. She was
going to do what she wanted to do.
Shiloh
Walker has been writing since she was a kid… she fell in love with vampires
with the book Bunnicula and has worked her way up to the more…ah… serious
vampire stories. She loves reading and writing anything paranormal, anything
fantasy, but most all anything romantic. Once upon a time, she worked as a
nurse, but now she writes full time and lives with her family in the Midwest.
She also writes under the pen name J.C. Daniels.
