Blurb From Goodreads:
A girl goes on trial for murder, but it’s the judge who committed the crime.
Johanna Kozak is not unaccustomed to the harshness of living in a Supernatural world. When her best friend is brutally murdered by the judge at her trial, Johanna must find solace in being a martyr for the only cause she has ever known. Her days are marked by visits from a mysterious servant boy, and visions of the past that haunts her. Meanwhile, her trial commences among the Council, and lines are being drawn. Her judge knows Johanna did not act alone, and if her co-conspirators aren’t careful, this prison break is about to land them all belly up in the heart of the beast.
Wrought with secrets, lies, heartbreak, and betrayal, will Johanna find peace in her ruling, or do the gallows await them all?
If you love the strong friendships shown in Truthwitch and the hint of darkness behind everything Cassandra Clare, Trial by Heist will keep you up well into the night as you read about one young woman’s fight for survival in a world that would rather see her dead.
Pick up your copy of Trial by Heist now, and dive into the world of Daizlei Academy for another thrilling adventure!
This takes place in what seems to be the secret paranormal world that we didn’t know anything about from the first book. It’s a nice peek into this new world. There are some interesting things happening that I can’t wait to see how they involve Selena. So looking forward to book two!!
Born in Olympia, WA, Kel Carpenter has lived in over twenty-five houses and four different states, all inside the US. Kel started writing in high school where the origins for her original series, Heir of Shadows, began. It was then that writing changed her life. Fast forward, and Kel is now twenty-one and attending college in Atlanta GA, where she studies Chemistry and English.
She has many wonderful friends and her 2-year-old German Shepard, Harley (the self-professed love of her life). They spend their afternoons hunting Pokémon and unknown coffee shops along the streets of Atlanta—when she’s not at work or in class that is.
